All I care to know is that a man is a human being, and that is enough for me; he can't be any worse..” ~ Mark Twain Introduction India is the World's largest democracy, containing the second largest population in the World. Since the Independence in 1947 the World's perception of India has changed; from categorizing and treating it as a 'developing' nation to today's belief of India to be a superpower with a strong ally in the international arena. Caste Pyramid There are many internal problems in India which need immediate attention, including the issue of caste discrimination and untouchability. Caste discrimination and untouchability is not something new; it derives its root from ancient India. It is a cultural and social phenomenon th...

Population and Economic Growth

Image
The twin relationship between population and economic growth has always been a subject of great interest to economists, as population is a resource that supplies the labour force needed for industrialization that symbolises economic growth. However, it is an established principle that labour alone cannot produce anything without the help of other resources. If other resources needed for production are available in sufficient quantity, then a larger lobour force could become a productive asset of a country. Growth Rate of Population At any point of time, all countries have some people living there, the number of these people constitutes the size of population of that country at that time. This number, however, keeps on changing continuously through birth, deaths and immigration. Therefore, increase in the number of people during a fixed period of time, in a country, is called the growth rate of population. The rate of growth of population during a period is estimated as the rati...

Youth India - Untapped Power

Youth UNESCO Definition: Best understand as a period of transition from the dependence on childhood to adulthood's independence and awareness of our independence as a member of a community. Insensitive India

A great tragedy brings the worst of enemies together, and the current rape cases (Kathua Rape-Murder case and Unnao Rape case) have proven this once again. Today, one might be happy, to see that the varied section of society coming together and protesting to get justice for the rape victims. But I feel ashamed to see that protests were also happening, in parallel, to support the rapist not by the public but by the ministers whom public chooses as their representatives (what were they trying to prove!? ). While a murderer destroys the physical frame of the victim, a rapist degrades and defiles the soul of a helpless female. Now and then the newspaper reports a rape case, and according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in majority of the case the accused is known to the victim ( click here  for statewise breakdown). It appears that the rapists are not scared of laws. Prominent leaders and experts have blamed women’s clothing as one of the major factor for increasing rape c...

Caste System-Weakening the Country

INDIA is going to be a super-power by 2050, I kept on reading and listening to this from many sources, for many years. But the bitter truth is we are still entrapped in the believing of the past, from which one is the caste system (It is a system of social stratification on the basis of their type of work) which is eating and weakening our country from the inside. I believe that until and unless we are out of it, we cannot be a super-power country truly. The problem of casteism is very severe in the villages where the peoples still wants to believe in the past, the effect of the caste system is comparatively less in the cities, but it is not completely finished. The other problem of the increasing casteism is because our politician who instead of uprooting the problem from the society, regularly keeps on arousing it. These people use this caste system to increase their vote banks. Now a days, with the grace of these politicians the peoples of a particular castes are benefited ove...
